Let me just start by saying this: everything is connected. And numerology is all about the study of human behavior through numbers, but also the planets (from an astrological perspective, that is). In Western numerology, however, little or no attention is given to astrology or the importance of planets in relation to the energetic vibration and meaning of numbers.

What I have noticed throughout my own numerology journey is that a lot of Western numerologists don’t talk a lot about astrology, if at all. Whether they do that on purpose, don’t have a clue, don’t find it important, or are simply not interested in astrology; I do not know why. Whatever the reason may be, I’ve decided to do things differently and shed more light on this matter. Since I personally use Western numerology (and mix it with Vedic astrology principles), my intention on this platform is to bring more awareness to the fact that there is a very strong relationship between numbers, planets, and the stars. As I’ve mentioned repeatedly; astrology and numerology are like two peas in a pot. Obviously, astrology is more complex. Nonetheless, having some basic knowledge of astrology, especially the planets, is very important to understand the basics of numerology. It will all just make more sense once you know where the numbers and their energies come from. It doesn’t matter whether you use the Pythagorean or Chaldean system or maybe even both. All that matters is that you have at least some basic understanding of the planets (houses and zodiac signs) when you embark on your journey of personal development and self-discovery through numerology. Simply because the meaning of the numbers one to nine originates from the natural attributes and energies of the planets in our celestial universe.

In my previous blog post, I’ve already explained the Vedic astrological meaning of the planets. As a continuation, I will now explain and illustrate, in part 2, in a simplified manner how the planets’ characteristics are connected to the nine numbers, including human behavioral traits and personalities. So, if you haven’t read part 1 of 2 or are not familiar with the significations of the planets, then please do so first, as I’ve already covered all nine extensively.

So, without further ado, let’s begin.

I will use two numbers as examples, namely the numbers 1 and 2.

Starting with the number 1, which is ruled (or influenced) by the Sun.

NUMBER

PLANET

PLANETARY ENERGY | NUMBER MEANING

1 Sun Father, King, authority, bravery, confidence, creation, ego, identity, independence, individualism, initiation, leadership, originality, self-expression, vigor

NUMBER

PLANET

 HUMAN BEHAVIOR | PERSONALITY TRAITS

1 Sun  Positive: independent, authoritative, original, driven, inventive, disciplined, brave, confident

Negative: controlling, demanding, dominant, inconsiderate, selfish, self-centered, uncooperative

Based on the two tables above, you can see (using simple keywords) how the Sun is connected to the number 1. In astrology, the Sun represents things like; the King, father, the center of our universe and our core being, the creator of life, our ego, and self-esteem, soul, identity, self-expression, ability to lead, etc. Based on these planetary qualities, the number 1, therefore, symbolizes initiation, creation, leadership, individualism, innovation, confidence, authority, originality, etc. This, in turn, correlates to behavioral and personality traits such as authoritative, disciplined, independent, original, driven, and confident, but also traits like self-centered, inconsiderate, and demanding.

Nice to know: When the number 1 becomes highly active in one of your numerical life cycles (e.g., your Personal Year or Personal Month), then energies pertaining to the characteristics of the Sun will play a key role during those periods. Or if, for example, you are a Life Path 1, Expression Number 1, or born on the 10th (because 1 +0=1) or 19th (because 1+9=10, 1+0=1) of the month, then you may carry Sun-like talents and traits, or behave/express yourself according to the Sun’s energies.

Let’s move on to the second example; the Moon.

NUMBER

PLANET

 PLANETARY ENERGY | NUMBER MEANING

2 Moon Queen, mother, attentiveness, creative imagination, emotional balance, empathy, healing, intuition, nurturing, partnerships, receptivity, relationships, sensitivity, the subconscious mind

PLANET

HUMAN BEHAVIOR | PERSONALITY TRAITS

2 Moon Positive: caring, nurturing, creative, diplomatic, empathetic, intuitive, cooperative, supportive

Negative: compliant, (too) dependent, overemotional, oversensitive, reserved, shy, submissive

The number 2 is ruled (or influenced) by the Moon. In astrology; the Moon represents things like; the Queen, mother, nurturer, caregiver, dependent (of the Sun), fluctuation of emotions and feelings, intuition, creative imagination, subconscious mind, ability to connect with others, etc. Based on these planetary energies and qualities, the number 2, therefore, symbolizes attentiveness, sensitivity, partnerships, diplomacy, receptivity, emotional balance, etc. This, in turn, correlates to the behavioral and personality traits such as caring, creative, cooperative, nurturing, supportive, and empathetic, but also traits like (over) emotional, (over) sensitive, and reserved.

Nice to know: When the number 2 becomes highly active in one of your numerical life cycles (e.g., your Personal Year or Personal Month), then energies pertaining to the characteristics of the Moon will play a key role during those periods. Or if, for example, you are a Life Path 2, Expression Number 2, or born on the 2nd, 11th (because 1 +1 =2), or 20th (because 2+0=2) of the month, then you may carry Moon-like talents and traits, or behave/express yourself according to the Moon’s energies.

Now, have a look at the rest of the numbers, including their link to the planets and personality traits.

Just a simple reminder: No one is perfect. As you can see, I’ve mentioned the negative traits of each number as well. Simply because we all have both positive and negative sides to our personality, and thus behavior. Although I’m personally not a fan of the words “negative” or “weakness” when describing human behavioral or personality traits, because I don’t consider anyone as weak or negative from the core. I believe that life is a continuous process of learning and development. But it is only through the practice of self-awareness and consciousness that we get to elevate, develop, and grow ourselves.

With that said, the following table illustrates the energetic link between numbers, planets, and their meaning using simple keywords.

That’s it! We’ve now come to the end of my Astro-Numerology two-part blog post. I hope that this background info will now help you get a better understanding of the meaning and energetic vibrations of all nine numbers, including their relation to the planets in astrology and their influence on human behavior, and personality traits.
