Personal Year Predictions

Have you ever asked yourself why the Personal Years that are said to bring you tons of luck, opportunities, and good karma bring you nothing but obstacles, trials, and tribulations? And did you ever wonder why the years that are supposed to be the worst turn out to be one of the best times of your life? If you want to know why certain predictions don’t match the actual outcome, why some years won’t always go as you had hoped, and why life may sometimes take you in a completely different direction, continue reading.

The thing with predictive numerology is that it’s all about possibilities, not probabilities or guarantees. Personal Year predictions are not a one-size-fits-all. Though it may seem like the forecasts for each year may apply to each of us, it’s important to note that these are general predictions. Since we all walk different paths, go through different phases, and experience life in different stages, the actual outcome for each Personal Year depends on your personal situation and life story. Apart from this, there are many other reasons why certain predictions don’t resonate with you, or apply to you, and things turn out differently than expected. However, in this post, I will share five key factors that may affect the outcome of your Personal Year predictions (for better or worse) and explain why your nine-year life cycles may not always go as predicted or anticipated. Knowing this may help you better deal with life’s challenges and better manage the general outcome of your nine-year cycles.

So, what could positively or negatively affect the outcome of your Personal Years? What 5 key factors may decide whether you’ll have a good, bad, or average year?

1. Your Mahadasha (or major planetary period)

The first and foremost factor that may heavily affect the outcome of your nine-year cycle is your Mahadasha. What is a Mahadasha? Simply put, a Mahadasha is a major planetary period. It is a term used in Vedic Astrology that shows you the different planets that influence you and your circumstances throughout your lifespan. It shows you whether a planet’s energy (based on your birth chart sign and planet placements) may give you good, bad, or average results throughout specific periods and phases in your life. According to the Vimshottari Dasha system (in Vedic Astrology), 120 solar years have been assigned to indicate the total lifespan of a human being. Those 120 solar years are divided among the nine planets, including Rahu and Ketu (the lunar nodes). Each planet has a specific duration and operates according to a specific order; Ketu (7 years), Venus (20 years), Sun 6 (years), Moon (10 years), Mars (7 years), Rahu (18 years), Jupiter (16 years), Saturn (19 years) and Mercury (17 years). What does this mean? If for example, you’re born in the last 5 years of a Rahu period, then from your 6th until your 22nd birthday (16 years in total), Jupiter will have a key say in how things may manifest in your life here on Earth. Then the next 19 years of your life, from your 22nd until your 41st birthday, Saturn will take over Jupiter’s role, followed by Mercury (17 years), and so on.

It is important to note that your Dasha is always in operation mode, no matter what you go through in life. Though it may run in the background, and you may not always be aware of it; it’s important to be aware of its existence, as it affects your life, regardless. It has a major say in how things will manifest in your life. Whether you’ll receive good results depends on how well the planets and signs are placed in your astrological birth chart. So, the reason why things may pan out differently in your Personal Year is because of the major planetary period (Mahadasha) that you are in. So if you’re currently running a Dasha (period) of a planet that is not well placed in your chart, it could produce not-so-good results at this specific time in your life, which, in turn, may impact your Personal Years. Let’s say you’re in a Personal Year 3 (ruled by Jupiter). This doesn’t mean Father Christmas will bring you all the blessings and gifts in this world because he could easily turn into Father Nightmare. What you may or may not receive depends on whether you have a supportive Mahadasha, which can only be seen through your natal chart. Now, if, for example, you’re running a Ketu Dasha while in a Personal Year 3, you may not always gain on the material front but more internally. As you know, Ketu represents a non-materialistic planet that symbolizes detachment, loss, and spirituality. So, you could experience various losses, such as a break-up, divorce, the death of a loved one, or financial loss. And so, your Personal Year 3 may be more of a spiritual journey for you and therefore, may bring you spiritual growth. But it is only when you are ready to see and accept this side of life (and if it’s part of your karma), you will experience that things won’t look as bad as you might think. That is why it is imperative to not discard numerology without consulting astrology. The way things may pan out for you in life (including your nine-year life cycles) depends on your Mahadasha, which is the deciding factor, as it executes and delivers the results based on what is written in your chart and thus destined for you. There is also a sub-period named Antar Dasha, which has a shorter duration than the main period. Nonetheless, it is also something to be aware of as this sub-period, combined with the main one, may impact you and the events of your Personal Years. So let’s say you’re running a Rahu Mahadasha and Moon Antar Dasha i.e. Rahu-Moon period, while in a Personal 2,4 or 7; I can almost guarantee you that either one of these years may take a toll on your mental health and overall wellbeing, especially if you haven’t dealt with it properly. There are also sub-sub-periods to pay somewhat attention to. However, the key takeaway is to focus on the main planetary period and its sub-period. This will help you better understand the outcome of your Personal Years.

This brings me to the next point.

 2. The Long-Term Planetary Transits (Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu, Ketu,)

Apart from your Mahadasha, the transits of the planets may also play a major role in how your Personal Years may pan out, especially that of Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu (North Node), and Ketu (South Node). Why these planets? Compared to the rest, their transits have a longer duration. Namely, Jupiter spends one year in a zodiac sign, Rahu and Ketu travel 18 months in one sign, and Saturn stays the longest, about 2–2.5 years. Due to these planets’ long transit, their energies align perfectly with the duration of a Personal Year, which lasts one year (plus taking into account the first 3 months of a new year when the old energies fade and the new ones come in). Hence, the longer the transit, the longer it may take for things to manifest and impact you in your Personal Year. Something to be aware of is that Rahu, Ketu, and Saturn are malefic planets that bring fated karmic events into our lives during their transit. Jupiter, however, is a benefic planet and may create positive events in your life. But this depends on various factors, including how well Jupiter is placed in your birth chart, the aspects it makes during transits, whether it’s hemmed between malefic planets, and other things. So, when you combine astrology and numerology to make forecasts and help you understand how things may manifest on a personal level, you must always look at what the major planets are doing during their transits, such as that of Jupiter, Saturn, and Rahu/Ketu, as this may help you get a clearer picture of the events that may take place in your Personal Year.

For instance, you might be in a Personal Year 6 (ruled by Venus), while Rahu transits your 6th house and Ketu your 12th house as per your astrological birth chart. What does that mean? Well, this cycle and karmic transit combination could help you remove various obstructions from your life so you can realign yourself and become the most productive you’ve ever been. Certain Venusian themes and key areas regarding the 2nd,  6th , 7th, and 12th house could become a focus in your life such as your health, finances, debts, earnings, job, family, home, daily routine, pets, value system, and your relation with other people including partnerships. During this period, you might have to let go of certain unhealthy (personal or professional) relationships that no longer add value to your life, you may reevaluate your finances and the way you make money, or you might have to get rid of old habits and a lifestyle that does not serve your purpose. At the same time, you could become highly creative and extremely productive in your day-to-day routines; you may get a sudden urge to organize things, do more cleaning around the house, and be more of service to others (even if they get on your nerves sometimes). You might also decide to adopt a pet, create a new nutrition and workout plan to improve your overall health and mental well-being, or establish a new future career and financial goals for yourself while striving to create a healthy, holistic balance between your home and work life. While in your Personal Year 6, you might have both Jupiter and Saturn transiting your 2nd house, which could go various ways. For instance, you may have to deal with limitations concerning your earnings, cope with restrictions regarding your diet, or set financial boundaries between you and your family members. You could also suddenly gain a position where you have to manage your family finances, or you could improve your family wealth and increase your earnings through a better-paying job (perhaps through your speech). So these are examples of how the major planetary transits can affect your Personal Years, positively or negatively. Never forget to check what the planets are doing so you can see how their energies align with your nine-year life cycle.

3. Your Karma

To understand the third point of what may affect the outcome of your Personal Years, you need to familiarize yourself with the concept of Karma. What is Karma? To put it simply; Karma is everything that you do. Whether you did it in a past life, recent past, or today. Every action you take and every move you make has a consequence and thus a result, be it positive or negative. Whatever you did in the past or do right now will come back to you in various ways and forms; you will either have to pay or get rewarded for your deeds, either in this lifetime or the next. Thus, based on the concept of karma, including reincarnation; we came here as a result of our karmic deeds from the past. And so, no matter where you are in your nine-year life cycle, be it a Personal Year 1, 5, or 8; know that life will always put you in various circumstances, situations, and events in which you must deal with your karma, whether you like it or not. For most, it’s not always clear that what they are going through is part of their karma. But when you learn to make conscious decisions, carefully pay attention to what you do (why, how, and to whom you do it), and align yourself with the universal energies, you will notice how karma plays out in your life. You will notice that anything that happens to you and for you (either today, tomorrow, next week, month, or year) is often based on your karmic scores. So, if luck is not on your side in those so-called fortunate Personal Years, or things go smoothly and surprisingly well in the more challenging and slow-moving years, then know that this has to do with your personal karma. In addition, know that if things are meant to happen for you, they will surely happen and if they are not meant for you, they won’t manifest in your life; no matter how hard you try or what Personal Year you are in. Remember; wherever life takes you, whether you experience a negative or positive event, always see it as a lesson and blessing that will help you burn off your karma (and lower your scores) and foster your soul’s growth.

This brings me to the 4th point.

4. Your Level of Self-Awareness

Another key factor that may heavily affect the outcome of your Personal Years is your level of self-awareness, as it affects your ability to make decisions, either good or bad. Since life is full of challenges and obstacles, you will always be faced with a challenge to tackle, an obstacle to overcome, a choice you have to make and a decision you have to take (no matter where you are in your nine-year life cycle). But the more you become aware of yourself, the more you will learn to build resilience (and adapt to sudden changes and setbacks), and the better you may deal with life’s challenges and improve your decision-making skills. Many people think they are self-aware, but most are not. A truly self-aware person understands their thoughts, feelings, and emotions and knows where they stem from. And when you know the whys behind your (re)actions, you can make more conscious and informed decisions. Additionally, when you align yourself with the universal energies and carefully pay attention to your surroundings, you will learn that life is nothing but a recycling bin where we are constantly reminded of our past by repeating and reliving certain events. However, most people are clueless about life and don’t understand why they keep throwing themselves into similar situations and places and dealing with similar people and events. However, the reason for these repetitive scenarios is due to unlearned lessons. That is why your nine-year life cycle can be an excellent measurement tool to help you understand any repetitive (behavioral) patterns you may have. Your Personal Years can help you recognize, and identify your past patterns, and understand your present actions so you don’t have to repeat them in the future. But if you are not willing to have a closer look at yourself and learn to understand yourself at a deeper level, then life will keep throwing a curveball at you until you’ve learned your lessons. Thus, how your Personal Years may pan out for you also strongly depends on your willingness to raise your self-awareness, as this may prevent you from living life on repeat and experiencing a nine-year cycle full of setbacks and misfortunes. The more you are willing to go within and learn new things about yourself, the less you’ll be inclined to repeat past actions and the less likely situations from your past will appear, either in your current Personal Year or the years to come.

Now, let’s move on to the fifth and final reason that could affect your nine-year cycle, for better or worse.

5. Your Attitude Towards Life

You may not know exactly what you’re doing or where you’re going. You may not have your life all figured out. Don’t worry because no one has. No one has all the answers. No one truly knows what they’re doing here other than existing. However, one thing I’ve learned is that life will take you where you need to go. It will show you what you need to do and will bring to you those who you need to meet. But your attitude and how you deal with life’s circumstances (including challenges) will ultimately determine how you’ll walk your path, and how things may pan out for you in this lifetime. So, wherever you are in your nine-year cycle, it’s imperative to build resilience, adopt an attitude of gratitude, practice the art of patience and non-attachment, and be adaptable and flexible as much as possible because the Universe has a funny way of shaking things up and testing your character. One day, things may be alright and the next everything could change in the blink of an eye. Hence, life is always in a constant state of flux. But how you deal with life’s challenges, obstacles, and adversities will show you how mentally strong and emotionally stable you are. So, how well do you know yourself? Do you consider yourself a resilient person? Are your decisions emotionally driven, based on logic, or a combination of both? Are you calm and composed, or impatient and impulsive? How would you react when things are not going as you please? How do you deal with the sudden loss of someone or something? What do you do when your life isn’t progressing but feels stagnant? Do you see this as an opportunity to make sweet lemonade from sour lemons or do you let your situation get the best of you and thus let your lemons turn moldy? Whatever your answers are, know that your reactions to various life challenges will show your strengths and weaknesses or the areas you need to improve about yourself. But it is only when you go within and have that conversation with yourself that you can start the process to better yourself. Only then will you understand how you will react when you find yourself in various situations, be they positive or negative. Although your Personal Year can give you some insights into future events, it doesn’t mean things will turn out as expected. Ultimately, your attitude towards life and the character you build through your experiences will reveal how you will respond to life’s challenges and determine how you will progress in your future nine-year cycles, for better or worse.

On this final note, I end this blog post.

I hope you understand why Personal Year predictions may not always turn out as expected. Various factors, such as the 5 mentioned in this post, may affect your nine-year cycles. Though Astrology and numerology serve as spiritual divination tools to help you navigate life more consciously and constructively; remember that predictions are only possibilities, not probabilities or guarantees. At the end of the day, only God has all the answers and truly knows your true destination.
