I personally feel that makeup should not have to be expensive, but that counts for most things. It’s often the case that high end and drugstore brands are produced in the same factory. The only difference would be the packaging and maybe a slight difference in formula, but the result is often the same. With that said, when it comes to foundation and makeup primers, the most important requirement for me(besides the price) would be an oil-free formula, because of my combination/oily skin. And just recently I discovered a budget-friendly oil-free makeup primer that I’d like to share with you.
If you’re from Europe, especially The Netherlands, Germany, Belgium or the UK, then you should be familiar with the discount store Action where they not only sell branded products at a lower price, but they also have their own private labels. Fashion Professional is one of those private labels that carries an assortment of low priced makeup products, manufactured by a Dutch personal care company called Maxbrands. Fashion Professional has 2 types of primers and one of them is the Perfect Finish makeup primer with an oil-free formula, which I recently picked up for just €1.49,- . When makeup products are priced this low, you would think the same about the quality, but on the contrary….
According to Fashion Professional and as mentioned on the back of the package: “The Perfect Finish oil-free makeup primer is meant to smooth, conceal and hold makeup in place all day. Fashion Professional Perfect Finish makeup primer minimizes the appearance of pores whilst creating a velvety base that will keep makeup looking flawless.”
I seriously love this oil-free primer and it does make my foundation stay in place for quite some time. I still have to blot every now and then though, so it’s not a miracle primer. Other than that, I don’t have anything negative to say about this budget foundation primer. The substance is white, indeed velvety smooth, and when I apply it on my face, it makes the application of my foundation and/or powder a lot easier. Although it’s a cheap primer, I find the quality very good and the black packaging has quite a decent luxe feel to it. And when it comes to the smell, it’s very pleasant! One of the key ingredients of this primer is Aloe Vera and Vitamin E, which is ideal if you have a sensitive skin.
Here’s the full list of ingredients: Aqua, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Phenoxyethanol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Tocopheryl Acetate.
This oil-free makeup primer will definitely go on my list of budget friendly primers. Have you heard of or ever tried Fashion Professional Perfect Finish makeup primer before? Or what is your favorite budget-friendly makeup primer? Let me know in the comment section below. xo- Jey.
