Dove Purely Pampering Sweet Cream with Peony Body Wash

From time to time I love showering with Dove beauty bars or body wash. Normally I opt for the regular unscented ones, because I’m simply not a big fan of their scented body cleansing products. Although I have to say that their Purely Pampering line has got some delicious scented body wash that are pretty hard to resist. And the latest in the Purely Pampering collection is the Sweet Cream with Peony fragrance. Since I love the smell of fresh peony flowers I thought I’d give it a try and here’s my review.

Product description/What they say: “This Dove body wash gives you a rich lather and warm sweet cream with peony fragrance to delight your senses. Meanwhile, the mild cleansers help your skin to maintain its natural moisture, and NutriumMoisture™ technology helps to replenish your skin’s nutrients, giving you softer, smoother skin after just one shower. Treat yourself and your skin to new Dove Purely Pampering Sweet Cream with Peony Body Wash.”

Packaging: Dove always got their packaging on point! This one in particular has the classic Dove look, only this time with a mix of white, beige(sweet cream) and purple(peony color). Like always, the description and ingredients of the body wash are very clear on the front and back.

Scent and substance: When I opened the Dove Purely Pampering Sweet Cream with Peony body wash for the first time, my initial thought was: “this is heaven!”. The smell was so sweet and delicious, it actually smelled like fresh peony flowers, even the very first time I showered with it….until the 3rd time that I actually started disliking the scent a bit. On the third day (and afterwards) of showering with this body wash I found the smell a bit too much; It was all just a bit overwhelming and I found it heavily perfumed. The substance on the other hand is thick, creamy, non-greasy and purple looking. Plus you don’t need that much of it.

Price: A 250ml bottle costs EUR3.59, but I got 3 for EUR6-, on SALE(2 peony scented and 1 deeply nourishing body wash unscented), which was a pretty good deal.

Final thoughts/What I say: Overall, I find the new Dove Purely Pampering Sweet Cream with Peony a good addition to the collection, but the perfume should be toned down a bit. Like I said, the initial smell was just heaven, but when you shower with this body wash on a daily, the fragrance becomes overwhelming and even sickening!  The only way for me to still adore the smell of sweet cream with peonies on my body is to skip this body wash for a few days and use something else or nothing in between. When it comes to the moisturizing effect of the NutriumMoisture™, it does leave my skin feeling softer and smoother. Would I buy it again? Only if Dove tones down the fragrance a bit. I would give it a 2.5 out of 5 for now.20160624_162056
