Daiso Japan Black Charcoal Peel Off Mask

I love trying out new beauty products, especially those I randomly discover during my travels. And it was in Dubai 1.5 years ago that I discovered this charcoal and oak tree-based black facial mask from the Daiso Japan store at the Dubai Mall. When I first looked at the package all I could see were Japanese letters, until I turned the small black and white tube around and spotted a few sentences in English. I had never seen a black charcoal-infused peel-off mask before, and to me it looked so intriguing, (especially when it claims to clear pores), I had to bring me some of that stuff back home.20160617_151253

I recently re-ordered the black peel-off mask online through AliExpress(since it’s nowhere to be found in the Netherlands), and here’s my review of this Korean beauty product. Yes, it’s Korean, but made for Daiso Japan retail chain.

Product description/What they say: The description on the package says Formulated with the natural ingredients from Oak trees, it removes oils and all dirt and deeply clean the pore, leaving your skin cleaner with less visible pores” Additional descriptions online say the charcoal-infused ingredient(btw I was told that this big black Japanese character in front of the package means charcoal) also removes blackheads, dead skin cells and smoothes the skin texture. It’s also advised not to use the mask more than twice a week. The black mask can be applied either on the entire face or in the areas where necessary.20160617_170357

Packaging: The peel-off mask comes in a simple, but still classy black and white tube of 80gr, which is not a lot(especially when you use it for your entire face). Like I mentioned before, the first thing I noticed were Japanese letters on the front of the tube, but as soon as you turn it around you’ll find the description in English(beside Japanese) as well.  I like the simplicity of the package though.

Scent and substance: It has a very chemical and organic(at the same time) smell to it, but somehow I don’t find it unpleasant. The substance is very thick and sticky. And it even dries up quickly.20160617_152635

Price: I’ve seen different prices online for this black peel-off mask, but the average is somewhere between EUR 3 and EUR4,-. I got it in a package deal of 3 for EUR13,- total(free shipping!). Here’s the link by the way.

Final thoughts/What I say: Daiso Japan black peel-off mask is a great product! Every time I use it my skin feels and looks tight, clean and refreshed! The first time I used it though, I applied it on my entire face and I quickly realized that it wasn’t such a good idea since the mask only comes in a small tube of 80gr. So now I use it on places that need it the most, which are my cheeks(where I suffer the most from blackheads). Obviously you won’t see major results after the first use, at least I didn’t. The more you use it the more you will see the results. Well for me that is.

daiso japanWhen I use it for my entire face I leave it on for 30 minutes, and when I apply it just on my cheeks, I leave it on for 15 minutes. Just make sure to apply a thick layer and let it dry completely, so it can effectively remove all the dirt and impurities from your face at once. The only downside when removing the mask is that it HURTS. It F’in HURTS!! Not only does the mask removes the dirt from your face, but it includes all your (baby) hair as well! So be careful when removing. I never look forward to that moment, but the result is just great!

This mask doesn’t work for everyone though, but I think it either has to do with the following: Either the pores are too clogged, you remove it before it’s completely dry, you’ve applied a thin layer or this brand doesn’t work for you. Besides Daiso Japan, there are other brands on the market now that make these black peel-off masks. So it’s also good to try out different brands as well. It could be that their ingredients work better on your face than the one from Daiso Japan though. 😉20160617_170448

So that was my review on Daiso Japan Black Peel-Off Mask. Have you tried this already? Let me know in the comment section below. xo – Jey.

    1. Hahaha well as mask is just extra…I don’t think we actually need it..it’s just a refresher in a pack. It’s not like black soap at all. This one really sticks onto your face and dries out. Plus it’s very painful when you remove it..like glue or something. I’ve tried African black soap in the past and I got an allergic reaction from it:(. I do use Moroccan black soap though, which is less agressive . Anyways I wish you a lovely weekend as well xoxo💋
