I can tell from my own experience that at times it can be very difficult to stay focused when working on a new project or pursue a long term goal that requires a lot of time and energy. Especially when dealing with every day distractions such as social media or sudden unforeseen obstacles that can delay you from achieving our goals.
So I’ve created a list that helps me whenever I feel stuck in a rut and need to boost up my energy to get my motivation back. I’d like to share this list with you.
Only hang out with positive, like-minded people who have the best interest for and with you.
If you’re surrounded by people who don’t add up to your life, your vision or your happiness, get rid of them, immediately! Because we don’t need pessimists in our life, but only optimists. Start by cleaning out your phone contacts, Facebook “friends” etc. All you need is POSITIVE ENERGY! In the words of Oprah “Surround yourself only with people who are going to take you HIGHER!”
Stop beating yourself up or pity yourself
There are worse things on earth and stop thinking that your problem is bigger than someone else’s. And definitely DO NOT let any negative thinking let you down. Whatever it is that you are going through, just remember: This Too Shall Pass!
Create your own powerful mantra or affirmation or use someone else’s powerful quote that will give you some positive energy
And whenever you’re feeling down or about to beat yourself up, then say it a few times out loud. I have a few of my own, which are: “This too shall pass”, ”All things happen in divine timing”, “God is building my character, God is building my strength for something better ahead”. Or my favorite, which is a serenity prayer: “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference”.
Buy a notebook and carry it everywhere with you; Write down your goals, dreams, plans & strategies
Also write down the things you are grateful for and the things you have learned in life. Creating My Life Handbook is something that has helped me a lot, because it has given me a clear and better view on how to pursue my own personal goals.
Practice free writing
Anything that pops up, write it down! Write down your deepest thoughts and heartfelt emotions. Or simply start a blog. You will see, it will lift you up.
Count your blessings
…..and be thankful for what you have, because it could always be worse!
Read self-help/self-improvement books/blogs and get inspired by others
Stop comparing yourself to others
As I mentioned before we each have our own personal goals and we each have our own path to walk in life. Focus on YOU and YOU only!
Please do! Be persistent about your goals, but don’t push yourself too hard. Ever heard of “Dolce Far Niente”? Practice it, because it is important to relax, since life is too short to be stressed out! Book a spontaneous weekend getaway, go for a walk in the park, go biking, take a cooking class…do anything that sets your mind free from worries.
Eat & drink healthy while staying active!
They say, “you are what you eat”. When you eat and drink healthy, you will feel good. When you feel good from the inside, it shows from the outside. When you work out(it doesn’t have to be every single day) you will get more energy. Combining healthy eating with an active lifestyle will not only help you feel good about yourself, but you will get motivated to go after your goals and dreams.
